News (July 9, 2006)

A New Church Building meeting was held on June 28, 2006. Twenty-two members of the Building Committee and Finance Council participated in the meeting.

  1. Revised and discussed the bids that were received. Marshall Company was approved as the lowest responsive bidder.

  2. Reviewed the total cost remaining, amount to borrow and estimated yearly income and expenses. Based on a $2,200,000 loan from the Diocese, the yearly parish expenses will be $429,000. A $2,200,000 loan is adequate to build the Church Building, furnish the Church, and provide a parking lot on the west side of the new Church. An additional $300,000 loan is required to build the Bell Tower.

  3. Currently, the Diocese has approved a $2,200,000 loan. Sidney and Fr. Mike will meet with the Diocese Deposit and Loan Committee to discuss the possibility of an additional $300,000 loan. (Note: Fr. Mike and Sidney met with the Diocese Deposit and Loan Committee on July 5. The Diocese Deposit and Loan Committee did not approve the additional $300,000 loan. They suggested that the Bell Tower be built at a later date.)

  4. Construction on the new Church should start within 6 weeks.

  5. Sidney will discuss possible value engineering options with the Contractor and Architects and report to the Committees.

  6. A list of furnishings that parishioners can contribute to is being developed.

If you have any questions, please call Fr. Mike at the Rectory, Sidney Faas (387-0797), or Gary Clarke (241-3567).
